SLICE THE DRAGON | 2009 Startup Workshop

Slice the Dragon is the title of the Winter Interior Architecture StartUp Workshop open to all new 2009 incoming students. The 30x30 mm pine wood single furniture elements, once connected from head to tail, gave life to an imaginary dragon. At the end of the workshop all pieces were recycled and used as bookshelves/partitions in our studios.

HOLLYS COFFEE | Beyond the Void

The new brand identity for the Korean Coffee Company HOLLYS COFFEE was designed by Beyond the Void (Stephan Exsternbrink & Julia Karla). The first prototype shop opened in Daejeon in the beginning of 2009. Currently the process of application on all stores in Korea has started. A unique identity was achieved by simplicity, reduction and authenticity in terms of material and spatial experience.

MOTOElastico HANOK video @ VISIONS

The HANOK project video by MOTOElastico [Simone Carena & Marco Bruno] has been selected for VISIONS, the 9th International Festival for Architecture and Media, Florence, Italy, July 9-17, 2009. Their provocative HANOK renovation project has been published on several architecture and interior design magazines in Korea and abroad.

모토엘라스티코 (시모네 카레나&마르코 브루노)의 한옥 프로젝트 동영상은 VISIONS가 이탈리아 플로렌스에서 주최한 '제 9회 건축과 미디어 국제 페스티발'(2009년 7월 9~17일)에 선정되었습니다. 이 흥미로운 한옥 리노베이션 프로젝트는 국내/외의 다수의 건축/인테리어 잡지에 소개되었습니다.

ALESSANDRO ARTIZZU | from Cagliari to Beirut

In the summer of 2008, Alessandro Artizzu [alsem], former GSAKU interior architecture professor, designed this iconic guitar shaped entrance sign for the Karel Music Expo in Cagliari, Sardinia. A Gibson inspired 8 meters tall steel structure covered with recycled acrylic panels. Alessandro is currently an Interior Design Visiting Professor at the Lebanese American University of Beirut, in Lebanon.

2008년 여름, GSAKU의 전 실내건축설계학과 교수인 알레산드로 아르티쯔는 사르디냐 칼리아리에서 열린 카렐 음악 엑스포에 사용될 아이콘적인 기타모양의 출입구를 디자인했습니다. 8미터 높이의 철제 구조에 재활용 아크릴 판을 씌워서 만든 이 작품은 깁슨 기타에서 영감을 받아 만들어진 것입니다. 알레산드로는 현재 레바논 베이루트의 Lebanese American University 에 초빙교수로 재직하고 있습니다.

Korean Housing Rapid Prototyping

The Korean Housing Prototyping studio approached the housing project using an inside out method. It is not the building shaping the apartments, but the creative combination of different units to give life to new and experimental forms of dwellings. Stop motion film is the perfect tool to illustrate this prototyping technique.

'한국 주거의 과도기적 프로토타입'에서는 inside-out 기법을 사용해서 주거 프로젝트에 접근해 보았습니다. 이것은 단순히 아파트(공동주거)의 형태를 만드는 건물이 아닌, 다양한 유닛을 창의적으로 결합하는 것으로 새롭고도 실험적인 주거의 형태를 탄생시키는 것입니다. 스톱모션 영상은 이 프로토타입 기법을 표현하는 데 가장 완벽한 도구였습니다.
